Welcome to Engill, commercial writing, editing, and content management by Angel Millar.
We live in dynamic times. One in which trends in communications, fashion, lifestyle, etc., are shaping us and the world around us all the time.
With a background in researching and writing about trends in material culture (from ancient religion and symbology to fashion and lifestyle), I see beyond the cliches that other writers often lean on. I’ve written two books on culture and symbolism (with the second book due to be published later this year). I’ve had academic papers published in peer-reviewed journals. I run an online magazine of culture, news fashion, and spirituality. And, of course, I’ve written for commercial companies, helping them to grow their consumer loyalty and their audiences.
Whatever subject I write about I want to see it in context. I want to know what inspired it — what’s its essence — and what issues is it addressing. I’ve found that a lot of designers, business people, and other creative types rarely have a conscious grasp of all of this. But, because of my background in the study of culture, I’m able to draw it out, to articulate it to their public.
I like to think of my work as copywriting couture. If you like, you can think of my writing as somewhere between anthropology, psychology, and marketing. But most of my clients think I just “get it.”
